In the summer of 2021, Professors Travis Lovell and Reid Elem from Utah Valley University invited me to join them as an artist-in-residence at the Capitol Reef Field Station in Utah. One of the most stunning National Parks in the U.S. Along with ~25 students, we spent a week creating artwork: sculpture, photography, painting, land art. Many of the pieces, including 3 of three of these images were later published in the 2022 book, “Utopia: State of Abstraction.” These lumens were created by placing plant material from the natural environment on top of old sheets of black and white photo paper. The colors were a huge surprise.
